There is nothing wrong with traditional competitions, but discussing the direction of Indonesian education is a problem that must be resolved on August 17th. Merdeka Learning Merdeka Curriculum makes students more independent in collaborating on their knowledge. What is obtained in the first semester will continue to be processed in the following semester. Many changes have occurred. For example, the Real Work Lecture, synonymous with the final semester, can be implemented in the middle semester. Carrying out Real Work Lectures independently is also allowed. Then, there is also the conversion of grades from college partners. For example, law faculty students take courses at the psychology faculty. This independence is very good because there are adjustments to learning outcomes that study programs must continuously improve. But it's a problem when those who don't understand misinterpret this freedom of learning. For example, it will damage the basic knowledge you have. For example, when a law faculty student takes a course at the psychology faculty, what do they master? Law or psychology? Of course, fear is natural because this system has broken the orthodox world of higher education.
There must be the same understanding that the world needs versatile and creative people, but when they are versatile, that is where their human form will be tested. Are we going to be as human as we can or limit ourselves but diligently carry out it so that it produces heavy fruit? It takes self-awareness in college, so learning freedom is a gift. If you want to be honest, independent learning has been around for a long time. I am from law school, so who doesn't know Roscoe Pound? He is studying botany, and it seems that it is tough to find the blue thread if it is related to law. But in the end, the popular term "law as a tool of social engineering" was discovered. If that's the case, independent learning is the progress of the Indonesian state in educating the nation.
To be more optimal, other facilities, such as equal distribution of internet access throughout Indonesia, must support it. Disclosure of public information so that reciprocity arises from the community to the authorities and vice versa. Moreover, Indonesia has officially recognized the omnibus method in forming laws and regulations.
Thus, independent learning is one way to advance students in a complex manner. The demands made in this program are still measurable, directed, and massive. Just how else can we accept and deal with it? So, let's master ourselves before others surround us.
